G‑CodeExplorer
Last updated: 13 October 2026
Privacy commitment
G-CodeExplorer is designed to fully respect your privacy. The application requires no account and collects, analyzes, sells or shares no data: not your files, not your prints, not the way you use the app.
Your files
The files you open (G-code, .gcode.3mf archives, 3MF projects, STL) are read on your Mac and never modified. The application only writes where you choose in a save panel: exported videos, images and PDF reports, and the new G-code created when you insert a pause or a filament change.
If you point the app to your slicer’s export folder, macOS keeps access to that single folder so the app can offer you the sliced G-code. This bookmark stays on your Mac.
Data kept on your Mac
Your settings are stored in the application’s preferences, and the workshop journal in a file in its data, on this Mac only. Nothing is synchronized or sent anywhere else.
Local network and live follow
The optional live follow polls, read-only, a 3D printer on your local network (Moonraker or PrusaLink API). No request is made until you add a printer in the settings, and macOS first asks your permission to access the local network. The application never sends commands to the printer, and nothing goes through a server belonging to the developer or a third party.
Integrations
- Quick Look previewThe G-code preview in the Finder is drawn on your Mac, without network access.
- Siri and ShortcutsThe Summarize a Print and Create a Share Card actions run on your Mac.
- FilamentKeeperOptional link, off by default: it only opens FilamentKeeper, another app by the same developer, to deduct the filament used.
Tracking data and third-party tools
- No trackersThe application includes no third-party analytics and uses Apple frameworks only. We do not track your usage.
- No advertisingThe application contains no ad network and does not use the advertising identifier.
Diagnostic and crash data
If you agreed in your system settings to share diagnostic data with developers, anonymous crash reports may be sent to us through App Store Connect. They contain no personal information and none of your files.
Your rights and data deletion
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you keep full control of your data:
- Workshop journalEach entry can be deleted in the Workshop Journal window.
- Full deletionRemoving the application from your Mac, together with its data, erases its settings and journal.
